Conflux Technology is an AM applications company based in Australia. Our advanced manufacturing operations encompass the design and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis of parts. In-house production, post processing and independent validation ensure end-to-end solutions for our customers.
Our expert team have worked with AM for over 20 years and possess a deep understanding of designing and leveraging the technology to derive the best possible outcomes for our customers. This knowledge is combined with our extensive market experience, gained at senior levels in the aerospace, defence and motorsports industries for the likes of the Australian Defence Force, major F1 teams, V8 Supercars and global defence and aerospace primes.
Our brand new Additive Manufacturing and Engineering Centre (AMEC) is located in the heart of the Geelong Innovation Precinct, south-west of Melbourne.
Michael Fuller | CEO
Michael spent more than fifteen years as a senior engineer in the European motorsport industry, where he was a designer of championship-winning Formula One, World Rally and Le Mans prototype race cars. His experience and expertise in this space led him to launch Conflux Technology, with the aim of harnessing the potential of additive manufacturing and pioneering thermal technology. Michael designed Conflux’s patented heat exchanger in 2015 and leads the Conflux team. At age 12, a clear lack of ability behind the wheel of his go-kart didn’t cure him of his obsession with motorsport...engineering beckoned. Conflux was founded with the same tenacious ambition.
Sam Gascoigne | Head of Finance and Administration, Company Secretary
Sam is a Chartered Accountant whose all-encompassing organisational smarts include strategic planning, analysis, oversight, forecasting and process improvement. He also advises the Conflux Board of Directors on statutory duties, corporate governance and effective board processes. Sam's hobbies include chess, spreadsheets and debating the relative merits of haute couture with the engineering department.
Ben Batagol | Head of Business Development
Ben has extensive experience in establishing one of the first Australian-based metal AM service bureaus, where he managed global sales, marketing and business development. He was instrumental in the company’s growth from start-up to leading provider of AM bureau services globally. Prior to this, Ben spent 15 years in the global defence and aerospace market, working with the Australian Defence Force on a range of projects. Ben is a glutton for punishment, spending a significant part of his career working in or establishing start-up companies in a range of industries. As his commitment to Conflux shows, he’s not yet had his fill.
Glenn Rees | Head of Engineering
Glenn has 20 years' of motorsport engineering experience, most recently as Chief Design Engineer at Prodrive Racing Australia. Originally from the UK, he cut his teeth with Reynard Motorsport designing touring cars and sports prototypes. Glenn is a world class engineering manager who has lead cross-disciplinary teams and held ultimate responsibility for the design of complete vehicles. He has contributed to race victories and championship successes across the globe – think Le Mans and Bathurst – and likes to get behind the wheel himself from time to time. In 2014 he completed the Targa Tasmania tarmac rally in a Porsche 944, recording a class win at his first attempt.
Kevin Hazlehurst | Head of Research and Development
Kevin graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a PhD focused on the adoption of metal AM for a medical application. Since then he has developed technical and commercial expertise in the design and implementation of AM technology at a systems level. Kevin has worked alongside EOS GmbH and with other additive manufacturing companies, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen to Conflux. Kevin is a keen sportsman with a passion for rugby and running. Since joining Conflux, Kevin has found a new, much more dangerous sport that involves jousting with Sam over capital expenditure.
Jon Watts | Head of Operations
Jon brings an in-depth understanding of PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) project management methodologies and 20 years’ experience in implementing lean business and manufacturing systems to Conflux. In 1997 he was a launch team member of a successful aerospace start-up collaboration between Virgin Atlantic and Reynard Motor Sport, and most recently worked for a multinational ERP (enterprise resource planning) implementation company. Jon is a keen automotive engineer with a passion for building and maintaining an off road jeep. He was also a pit crew member for Glenn’s victorious Targa challenge.
